Privacy policy
At Diploid Genomics, Inc. (“DGI”) we care about how Personal Information is collected, used and shared, and we take privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy applies to all DGI websites, pages, features, or content DGI owns or operates. By using the Site, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy. Personal Information is information that can be used to identify you, either alone or in combination with other information.
Please read the following to learn more about how we collect, use, store, process and transfer Personal Information.
*Please note: At the current time, the requirements of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) do not apply to DGI’s operations, based on the express terms of the statute. To the extent any of DGI’s operations become subject to CCPA requirements in the future, DGI will implement processes to ensure compliance with the requirements and will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.
Scope
This Privacy Policy covers only information collected by DGI from various sources.
Types of Personal Information DGI collects
A. Genetic Information: Information derived from genome sequencing either performed by DGI or provided to DGI by other sources. This genetic information may include detailed analyses and reports provided as part of our services.
B. Sample Information: Information regarding any sample, such as blood, saliva or other bodily fluids or tissue that are submitted to DGI for processing to be analyzed to ascertain genetic information, laboratory values, or other data generated and provided by DGI.
C. Phenotypic Information: Information provided to DGI including gender, disease conditions, diagnostic results and information, other health-related information, traits, ethnicity, family history, or anything else provided to DGI as part of the services we provide.
D. Web-Behavior Information: Whenever you interact with DGI or its website, we automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, “cookie” information, and the page you requested. “Cookies” and other related technologies (such as pixels, tags, software development kits, and similar identifiers) are used to recognize browsers or devices, enable site functionality, analyze usage, and support marketing and advertising activities.
You can change the preferences on your browser or mobile device to prevent or limit your computer or device’s acceptance of cookies, but this may prevent you from taking advantage of some features of the Site. If you click on a link to a third-party website, that third party may also transmit cookies to you.
Certain usage information we collect may be analyzed in aggregate to understand overall website performance and trends. However, DGI may also use cookies, pixels, analytics tools, and similar technologies to collect and use information on an individual or device basis for purposes such as website functionality, analytics, advertising, and marketing, including remarketing to prior site visitors.
While DGI may not be able to directly identify you by name using this information, such data may be linked to a unique browser, device, or online identifier and may be combined by third-party service providers (such as analytics or advertising partners) with other information they hold about you, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
For clarity, some information collected through cookies and similar technologies may constitute Personal Information prior to being aggregated.
Aggregate Information is different from Personal Information. Aggregate Informationis not Personal Information because Aggregate Information does not contain information about a specific individual, nor can it reasonably be linked to a specific individual. Aggregate Information is information about a group of people, such as an analysis or evaluation of a group. Aggregate Information describes the group as a whole in such a way that no specific individual may be reasonably identified.
DGI collection, use and sharing of Personal Information
We may collect information through entities, including but not limited to health care providers, that use a variety of technologies and tools, such as cookies, analytics tools, software development tools, and application program interfaces, as well as our affiliates and other third parties.
We may use Personal Information to personalize and improve our products, services or the Site, contact users, fulfill statutory or regulatory requirements, and analyze how users utilize our products, services or the Site, and as otherwise set forth in this Privacy Policy. In compliance with applicable law, we may use contact information that you have provided to send you information regarding DGI products and services, as well as other information that we think might be useful to you. If you do not wish to receive marketing information from us, you may opt out (see “Opting Out” below). When you contact us, we collect information to track and respond to your inquiry, analyze and improve our products or services, and investigate any breach of our Privacy Policy or applicable laws or regulations.
DGI will not sell, lease, or rent Personal Information to third parties for their own independent use. However, DGI may share Personal Information, including online identifiers and website interaction data, with affiliates, agents, vendors, and service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting, analytics, advertising, marketing, and customer communications.
These service providers may collect, process, or receive information about your interactions with the Site, including through cookies or similar technologies, and may use such information in accordance with their own privacy policies and contractual obligations with DGI. Our agents are required to have legally compliant privacy policies pertaining to Personal Information we share with them.
We may choose to buy or sell assets. In these types of transactions, Personal Information is typically one of the business assets that would be transferred. Also, if we (or substantially all of our assets) are acquired, or if we go out of business, enter bankruptcy, or go through some other change of control, Personal Information could be one of the assets transferred to or acquired by a third party.
We reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any information that we reasonably believe is necessary to comply with a judicial proceeding or legal process, cooperate with regulators or law enforcement authorities, enforce or apply our conditions of use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of DGI, our employees, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction. We will not voluntarily share Personal Information with public databases, insurance companies or employers, law enforcement, absent a valid court order, subpoena, or search warrant.
Use of Genetic, Sample, and Phenotypic Information
DGI uses Genetic Information, Sample Information, and Phenotypic Information solely for purposes related to the provision of its services, including performing laboratory analyses, generating, validating, and delivering results, preparing reports, and supporting clinical, research, or operational workflows requested by our clients. Such information is used only to the extent reasonably necessary to carry out these functions.
In addition, DGI may use Genetic Information, Sample Information, and Phenotypic Information for internal operational purposes, including quality control, quality assurance, validation, troubleshooting, audit activities, training, systems testing, and compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
Where permitted by applicable law and contractual obligations, DGI may also use Genetic Information, Sample Information, and Phenotypic Information in a de‑identified and/or aggregated form for internal research, development, validation, or improvement of its services, methodologies, and processes. Such use is intended to support service quality, accuracy, and reliability and does not involve advertising or marketing activities.
DGI does not use Genetic Information, Sample Information, or Phenotypic Information for advertising, marketing, targeted outreach, or behavioral profiling purposes.
Genetic Information, Sample Information, and Phenotypic Information may be shared only with service providers, laboratories, collaborators, or partners that support the provision of DGI’s services and that are subject to appropriate confidentiality, data protection, and contractual obligations. DGI does not sell, lease, or rent such information to third parties for their independent use.
Is Personal Information collected and/or stored by DGI secure?
We endeavor to protect the privacy of Personal Information we hold in our records and utilize industry standard security safeguards for storing and transmitting Personal Information to protect it from unauthorized access or loss. However, we cannot guarantee complete security. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors, may compromise the security of user information at any time. If you have reason to believe that the security of your personal information has been compromised, please immediately notify us by contacting us at privacy@diploidgenomics.com.
DGI’s website may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for privacy or security practices on other sites. When following a link to another site, you should read that site’s privacy policy.
Opting out
If you do not wish to receive marketing information from DGI, you may opt out by: (1) declining marketing information when registering or at other information gathering points on the website, or (2) informing us that you no longer wish to receive marketing communications by utilizing the unsubscribe mechanism offered in our marketing emails, or (3) by emailing us at privacy@diploidgenomics.com. We will comply with these requests unless such communications are required by law or contract or do not require your consent under applicable laws.
Opting out of marketing communications does not affect the use of cookies or similar technologies for website analytics or advertising.
Data retention and access
We retain data for at least as long as required by applicable law, and for periods of time needed for DGI to provide services to our clients, conduct audits, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Important information
Children’s privacy: The Site is not designed for, intended to attract, or directed toward children under the age of 18.
Personal Information for Non-US Residents: DGI makes no representation as to whether its data privacy practices comply with data privacy laws and regulations in countries outside the United States. For residents of the European Union, DGI does not currently market its services to or collect data pertaining to EU residents and makes no representation that it is in compliance with European Union General Data Protection Regulation requirements.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time and in our sole discretion. Changes will be effective upon the date the revised Privacy Policy is posted on the Site, with the effective date noted in the header at the top of this page. When you visit the Site, you accept the version of this Policy in effect at that time. We recommend that you periodically visit and review this page to obtain the latest information on our privacy practices.
